Is there anything harder than a real change of heart?
Is there anything more rare, more precious, than a real change of heart for the better? That question will mean something to you or it will not.
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” Can you hear it? What does it sound like?
We talk about hearing ‘the penny drop’. Its a metaphor for our time. Is that what gets our attention? Is that what you hear through the noise? Is that what we are listening for? Is that what it takes to make the connections happen for you?
We say “You could have heard a pin drop.” That is attention – maybe. But when the pin hits cold hard floor and bounces, what is that? A thorn piercing flesh gets another kind of attention – closer to the heart, but what kind of change does it bring?
Most of us will not hear the sound of a seed falling, but it will touch the ground. Without the outcome of that sound – litterally – we would all die. Can you hear the seed fall? Will it hit something hard, something shallow, something already covered in thorns and weeds? What will grow?
